Spotted this unusual Ash Tree desicated bud when out with my Grandson's Christmas afternoon. I presume it is one of last years Ash flower buds that has been attacked by some fungal infection. Have not seen anything like it before, will put it in my fungus & Gall albums untill I get a true ID

On April 29th this year I found an oversize Oak apple Gall on an Oak tree I pass regularly. I was able to watch what happened to it over 4 months but it had gone when I was able to get out again @ end of August. Posting 5 photos in date order to show what happened to it. will put a bit more about each photo below this overall description. Photos one & two have been posted before.
Starting to dry up May 23rd, no insects seen. but one large hole in it
