Very dull wet morning again, so short visit to a hide @ a local pool. Good numbers of ducks there but this Egytian Goose caught the eye. Standing on a rock for some time @ obviously calling out for a mate.

Natures Christmas present to UK birders was this rarity (1st male UK) only 5 miles from my home. Variously described as a "Blue-headed Eastern Yellow Wagtail" "Alaskan Yellow Wagtail". Having looked up the species on the web seems there are 4 sub-species of Eastern Yellow Wagtail, if it is the Alaskan version it is - Motacilla tschutschensis sub tschutschensis, quite a mouthfull. What ever it is, it is providing great interest having been resident for several days on some dung heaps, to birders from all over UK.
These 3 photos are all PP on PC & reduced size, but lead photo has the original ex camera for those who like to see the EXIF
