Watched this Small Tortoiseshell butterfly chase the Peacock butterfly around my garden this morning. Obviously a male who needed glasses. Followed around closely over several little flights & landings.

Returning home lunchtime it was really warm & sunny. A walk to my winter Heathers produced 6 Small Tort's, 5 Comma's & 2 Peacocks. Still no Red A's. This male Small Tort was very busy chasing a female around the Heather but she would not play ball, fluttered her wings & moved around refuelling on nectar

the "Teenage" Frogs were back in force @ the dragonfly pool this morning. they are smaller than the main breeding pairs that deposited all the spawn a few days ago. Pity the poor female, some do not survive this kind of attention. A little nice bird song on the video as well.
UPDATE 15.3.17 today I counted 14 dead Frogs around the spawning ground, many had puncture wounds to the skin. I know the Water Rail has been seen eating the spawn & there does seem less about than there was. Perhaps the sharp beak of the Water Rail has been at work

Managed a short video of a Bee Fly on my honesty this afternoon. This is Dark-edged Bee-fly - Bombylius major. MP4 video is not a true reflection of how fast the wings move when hovering
