When I was a child, my grandparents had an old-fashioned sort of stereoscope with a box full of slides depicting exotic animals from all over the globe. I spent hours sifting through these slides, and they now colour (or rather, remove colour from) how I see the wildlife in my own photos and experiences.

This lioness was one of five lions at this waterhole in Etosha National Park, Namibia. We watched for a long time, hoping to see them catch some lunch. All they caught was a nap.
