A northbound RF&P freight makes time at Doswell Va during the summer of 1972. By the end of the decade, the GP7s were seeing little use on the road but on this date, were still being utilized. Nobody knew it yet, but a feisty car-knocker turned trainmaster employed by the railroad heralded on that passing boxcar would one day be the CEO in charge of the large corporation that the RF&P would eventually be absorbed into. And he made it miserable. Kurt Reisweber photo, JL Sessa collection.

An unusual visitor to the RF&P's Bryan Park shop is Southern 2-8-2 #4501. The slide is marked "1966", and on September 25th 1966, 4501 made a round trip from Richmond to Alexandria and return via RF&P rails. This picture was likely taken either right before or right after that fan trip. Howard J Wayt photo, JL Sessa collection.
