Some classic B&O blue power rests in the service area of Bayview Yard in Baltimore, MD. It's January 19th 1972, and those Fairbanks-Morse units are about out of time. H16-44s such as #9704 were regularly used on transfer runs between the various yards that make up the Baltimore terminal. Making use of the famous Howard St tunnel, these jobs were sometimes called "Divebombers". No photographer listed, JL Sessa collection.

Big doin's afoot at the interlocking known as "HB" on the B&O's Baltimore Terminal Sub. This freight train is westbound on the main, and has just exited the newly constructed end of the recently elongated Howard St tunnel. The interlocking is seen being re-arranged to allow MARC trains easier access from their facilities at Riverside to what will become the newly rebuilt Camden station. Note 6403 hasn't been mated with a road slug at this point. The date us May 20th 1991. Photo by Jim Kleeman, JL Sessa collection.

Yard job Y109 is seen grabbing the Baltimore setout left behind by Q176 earlier. Even until recently, setouts too long to fit in the "run-around" (foreground) were left on either main at Macon street, just west of the Bayview signal. The trailers will be brought down to Seagirt to be unloaded. It's February 25th 1996, and it's been 9 days since the Baltimore division was rocked by the deaths of three of it's own employees in the P286/P029 wreck at Georgetown Jct. It's September 7th 1987, and this MARC train is swinging around the east leg of Bailey's Wye, and then snake off the main at HB Tower into the tracks at Camden Station. This photo was featured in the October 1990 issue of Railpace, in Part One of the "Railfan's Guide to Baltimore" 2-part series. Photo by Rodney Peterson, JL Sessa collection.

It's May 20th 1991 and MARC P253 swings through the newly reconfigured connection built at HB tower where it will swing off the main and into the station tracks at Camden station. The RDCs are passing the Baltimore institution known as "Hammerjacks", which was a popular music venue. On this night, GWAR from Richmond played a show here. The original Hammerjack's was demolished in 1997. Jim Kleeman photo, JL Sessa collection.
