In Port des Pecheurs you will find Crampottes with great sea food reasturants and nearby the church Sainte Eugenie.

This area was once the hub of the fishing community in Biarritz, filled with working vessels, out catching fish or whaling in the Bay of Biscay and beyond.

Stroll over the footbridge at the end of Pointe Atalaye to Rocher de la Vierge, named after the white statue of the Virgin and child.

Since 1864 the statue of the Vierge (Virgin) commemorates the safe return of local fishermen thought to be lost in one of the thundering storms. Originally the statue was set on a large rock off the coast, the Vierge would become accessible to the public under the order of Napoleon III. In 1887 the original wooden bridge was replaced by that of the bridge now used the crossing between the mainland and the coastal rock.

From this impressive outcrop there are views northwards of the Landes coastline and, far to the south, the mountains of the Spanish Basque Country.
