Taken in February of 2007 across from City Hall in Kingston Ontario looking onto Lake Ontario you can see one of the many of these towers that were used in the later part of the 1800's.
The Martello Towers along with, Fort Henry and the Rideau Canal system with it's Blockouses along the way were recently named a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Here you can see the dome of Kingston City Hall taken from what was once Fort Frederick, now the the museum at Royal Military College in Kingston Ontario Canada.
The canon's at the Fort seen in the foreground were mounted on on a wheel system and were able to turn in order to hit their target. There are several canon mounts located on "the point" as the some of the military at CFB Kingston refer to the land where Fort Frederick once stood.
