These cloud formations are caused by strong, steady winds after passing over the mountain ranges. The winds create standing waves and these clouds mark the crests of those waves. The Rocky Mountains are approximately 100 km west of here.

I saw this guy while walking Stewie. I dropped the leash to take the pic. Stewy wandered into the water up to his chest then lay down in the loon sh!t. I got the pic and a wet, muddy dog.
