What started as a “small stroll” around Holy Island at Lindisfarne, based on a quick Google Maps search, turned into an almost 5-mile round trip!

It seems this landmark doesn’t attract nearly as many visitors as the pilgrimage routes or the castle – likely due to the longer trek. But trust me, the effort was absolutely worth it.

After a slog of a walk, the landscape felt wild and untamed, with rolling grassy dunes dotted by the remains of the summer flowers resembling trees (in miniature) you see on the African savannah. and then, standing tall against this rugged terrain, was the dazzling white Pyramid – in striking contrast to its darker, earthy surroundings.

There really want much info about this landmark, I suspect its a daymark for navigational aid from yesteryear, but that said there was some reward in photographing it, when I expect few have.

To top it all off, we wrapped up the adventure with a few well-earned pints at the Crown and Anchor, waiting for the tide to shift so we could make our way off the island. A perfect end to a days photography.
