Image Description: |
This nice view of Kings Norton station has a good view of the Menzies newspaper stall, a gas lamp and a milepost. What surprised me was the class 101 with an all yellow cab. I did not know they existed, sadly it is not possible to make out the number as the shutter speed was just too low to freeze the movement, I have tried every trick to make it readable, I think the last figure is 8. I have the excellent RCTS book "DMUs in colour", in the text it states a few units were treated to this style but soon reverted to just the front as far as the cab doors. This could be quite a rare picture, oh I wish it was sharper and in colour. If anyone can shed more light on the class 101 I would be very pleased. Peter Shoesmith Circa 1969?
