I spent a couple days after Barrow at Alaskan Adventure Lodge on the Alagnak Wild River in the Katmai NP hoping to see some bearing fishing for salmon... The salmon run hadn't started yet... behind schedule. I thought I was gonna be shut out but on the last boat ride to back to the lodge to pack and get ready to fly out I looked up and saw this guy going across the tundra.. Russ (my guide) said he was heading to the river so we got out on the tundra hoping he would come down the trail near us to the river, but he didnt take the route we thought and next thing he's along the river a little down stream. So hopped in the boat and got to him, but he was skiddish and between him moving along the river then up into the tundra and the boat and water motion my shots werent the best. The shot on the tundra was a few hundred yards away, the head shot was right next to the river, and is NOT cropped, we were close... If anything it made me want to go back when prime bear watching it happening and they are very numerous along and in the river
