The first thunderstorm of the whole summer quickly came and went today, the last day of August. It was exciting - although not for some kayakers who needed help off Peggy's Cove, just south of here.

This just arrived and with fury. It will continue all night, but luckily will soon change to rain.

The waves were crashing into shore making splashes almost as tall as the lighthouse. This one was only about halfway up.

Luckily I had cleaned the salt spray off my lens just before this wave came in. Nature put on an incredible show here today both on the water, and land - will show that tomorrow.

Our first winter storm is blowing through.
