A visit to Wingham on a very bright, sunny day.
Located on the Manning River, in New South Wales, Australia,
Wingham is a charming rural service centre which has remained largely unchanged by the tourism which has dramatically altered the townships along the coast. Wingham is the oldest town in the Manning Valley. Like many towns away from the coast it was first settled by cedar cutters and, after the cedar ran out, the surrounding countryside was settled by dairy farmers and beef cattle breeders.
Central Park
It is unusual for Australian towns to be built around a Central Park but Wingham is a notable exception. Central Park sits in the centre of the town, has a number of unique attractions and is surrounded by interesting and attractive historic buildings.

The Vampire Jet A79-593, in Central Park, was donated by the Manning River Branch of the Air Force Association on 14 August, 1971 to commemorate the fiftieth birthday of the Royal Australian Air Force.

The F31 series of the de Havilland Vampire was produced 1950 to 1953.

The plaque was unveiled by Air Vice-Marshal W E Townsend (CB, CBE, FAIM), on 14 August, 1971.

A79-593 History
This aircraft entered service with No.2 Operational Training Unit, RAAF (2OTU) on 22/12/52. It was transferred to No. 1 Aircraft Depot RAAF (1AD) 9/1/58. It was transferred to RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) School of Technical Training, Wagga Wagga (RSTT) on 17/08/61 and approved for disposal on 11/07/70 before being displayed here on 14/08/71.

The Bell and the Cat: Ideas Are Good, But Execution Is Better!

The Story: A family of Mice has been living in fear because of a Cat. One day they come together to discuss possible ideas to defeat the Cat. After much discussion, one young Mouse gets up to suggest an idea. He suggests that they put a bell around the Cat’s neck, so they can hear it when it approaches. All the other Mice agree, apart from one wise, old Mouse. The old Mouse agrees with the plan in theory, but suggests “Who will put the bell on the Cat?”
The Lesson: It is easy to propose impossible remedies. Having lots of ideas is good for problem solving, but having ideas that work is even better. It is never a good idea to boast about an idea, until you know it’s going to work. Remember people want straight-forward solutions, not more problems.

Written by a former Greek slave, in the late to mid-6th century BCE, Aesop’s Fables are the world’s best known collection of morality tales. The fables, numbering 725, were originally told from person-to-person as much for entertainment purposes but largely as a means for relaying or teaching a moral or lesson. These early stories are essentially allegorical myths often portraying animals or insects e.g. foxes, grasshoppers, frogs, cats, dogs, ants, crabs, stags, and monkeys representing humans engaged in human-like situations (a belief known as animism). Ultimately the fables represent one of the oldest characteristics of human life: storytelling.
