The oldest sign of activity in Ulvøysund, is an old shipwreck on the approach of Kvåsefjorden. It was archaeologically investigated in 2011 by the Norwegian Maritime Museum, and a piece of a reindeer antler from the finding was later Carbon-14 dated to the period between the years 1020-1030.
In the Middle Ages, Ulvøysund had a permanent population. During the 14th century a bishop from Bergen wrote a letter (that still exists today) saying that he was stuck in Ulvøysund due to the weather.
A compass rose carved into the rock on the island of Ulvøya is possibly from the 15th century. The outport is mentioned on Dutch maps from the 16th century as Wolfsondt. Ulvøysund's oldest house still standing and it is used as a guest house. The house's oldest parts are probably from the 17th century.

Landvik Church (Norwegian: Landvik kirke) is a parish church in Grimstad municipality in Aust-Agder county, Norway. It is located just south of the village of Roresand in the Landvik area.
The church is part of the Landvik parish in the Vest-Nedenes deanery in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, wooden church was built in 1824 by an unknown architect. The church was built in a cruciform style and it seats about 400 people.
The church has a graveyard located in the yard surrounding the church.
The churchyard has no more room for graves, so another graveyard was built in nearby Roresand.
The first church at Landvik was probably built between the years 1150 to 1200.
The church is first seen in existing historical records in a letter dated 1376, but it was not a new church at that time. It was a stone church and over time it became too small for the parish, so in 1823 it was torn down. Some of the old stones were used in the construction of the new church which was built in 1824 on the same site.
A small addition was built on the northern cross arm in 2000. In 2014, a new pipe organ was purchased and installed in the balcony above the altar instead of in the back balcony where the previous organ was located. wikipedia
