This thick plank fence holds back the sand, sea and wind. Behind the planks are a walking, cycling path flanked by some planting of hardy grasses and coastal vegetation before the apartment buildings. And in the distance the container port machinery.

North by Mark Stoner is a sculpture resembling sails or shark fins (or anything else depending on your imagination).
"Located at the bay end bottom of Moorabool Street is one of Geelong’s most striking artworks. Entitled “North” this large seven part sculpture was designed by renowned sculptor Mark Stoner in 2000. North consists of seven sail or some people say shark fin like structures ranging from 2.2 to 3.5 metres high and built in rich greys, reds and earthy ochre coloured cement. The sculpture is amazing to walk around because of the clever positioning the profile and dimension of the surrounds so dramatically."

Flickr took a while to upload this today - perhaps the approaching thunderstorm has affected the copper internet wires!

Bleak, overcast and freezing. A cold winter's day re-imagined with snow (not quite there) in the Dandenong Ranges.
For the FFM- fifth of the month theme of wintery and/or clouds.
An Antarctic freeze has hit Melbourne and although there is snow on Mt Macedon it hasn't quite reached the Dandenong Ranges.

The area outside of Heathcote had kilometeres of farming country speckled with many large gum trees. Near where Jette took the photo of the sheep was a few rather decrepit outbuildings and a remains of a brick chimney. No doubt the old building was destroyed, perhaps by fire or time at some stage, and now used by the farmer for recycled materials.
