Depot shunters M232 and F317 (or F208) combine to haul the mixed goods during Steamrails 2018 open days.
M232 is one of two diesel hydraulic shunting locomotives introduced in 1959 by the Victorian Railways for use at Newport Workshops, however one was trialed in Mildura for a short time. This locomotive is now owned by Steamrail Victoria and lives within the confinements of the yard.
F208, or originally numbered as F317, is a diesel shunting locomotive introduced in 1951 and constructed by Dick Kerr Works, in Preston, England. 16 of the class were constructed and were used across the network soley as shunting locomotives. It is currently owned by Victrak but allocated to 707-Operations. In 2017, this locomotive ventured onto the mainline. It's hoped an ICE radio will be fitted to this unit in the near future so it can venture out again.
