S146 pulls away from East Hills with run number 35-J to Central.
The "S Set" suburban trains are expected to be retired from the Sydney Trains network before the Summer of 2018/19. These trains are the last on the network to operate without any air-conditioning and will be replaced by the Mk II Waratah trains, dubbed as "B Sets".

Motor car C3889 as part of S107, heads through Padstow during a wave of torrential rain as 21-E to the City via the airport from Macarthur.
The non-air-conditioned "S Set" trains are expected to be retired over the next 2 months, with all remaining sets being phased out with the arrival of the new "B Set" Waratah Mk2 trains, in fruition giving Sydney an all air-conditioned fleet of suburban trains.
S107 was sent for scrap on the 28th of February.

Progressively being replaced by the new Waratah Mk2 "B Sets", S123, a 1970's non-air-conditioned suburban train, rolls into Panania with a service to the City as 17-C.
To the left is B11, proudly advertised as "1 of 24 New Trains", is a new Waratah Mk2 train, heading for Macarthur with an all stations service.
24 B Sets were ordered in December 2016 to replace the 24 8 car S sets operating on the network and in January 2019, a further 17 were ordered as growth trains.
