37416 heads the 'Royal Scotsman' cruise train towards County March Summit, as a patch of sun amazingly moves along the hillside with the train. A divine searchlight, perhaps? 20th June 2004.

60 049 arrived in Carlisle Kingmoor Yard to provide driver training refreshers for ex EWS-Energy division drivers based at Carlisle Citadel station who's depot closed on 10th June when it was merged with the traincrew depot in Kingmoor Yard. Owing to problems providing an instructor over the preceeding week it spent more time in use on local trips than static training in Kingmoor Yard. The reason for retraining the ex coal men is that two class 60's are to be used in conjunction with the recently arrived HOBC (High Output Ballast Cleaner) which starts a 6 week program working out of Carlisle from 2nd July.

60 049 has seen its fair share of scrapes and is currently devoid of its plough blade at this end so looks a little odd below the buffer beam. The thing behind (70 002) just looks odd full stop ! On the right sits engineers trains 6L42 and 6L41 lead by 66 030 and 66 113 respectfully. They are waiting departure for Hellifield to enter a possession for a track renewal job at Nappa on the freight only line to Clitheroe.
