Merlin stands coupled to the coaching stock of the American Mail tour prior to leaving Heuston on 13 May 2000.

This loco is a V Class Compound 4-4-0. The first of the five members of this class, built by Beyer-Peacock of Manchester and numbered 83-87, was introduced in 1932. They wirked on the Dublin-Belfast expresses.
