American Avocet (Recurvirostra americana) on a shallow watered and bare shorelined wetland 25 miles SE of Leader, Saskatchewan. The avocet has a recurved beak so that it can feed in shallow water by bending forward and slowly swaying the beak, back and forth, through the shallow water and picking up aquatic invertebrates in the water.
