Great Gray Owl (Strix nebulosa) preparing to consume another course in its evening meal of voles which it captured in a field adjacent to the road edge north of Opal, Alberta, Canada.

During the course of 25 minutes observing this owl, it successfully plunged off the post and into the snow cover of the field and ditch and captured 3 voles.

It was truly amazing to view from my vehicle about 20 feet from the owl. It totally ignored our presence and focused on listening for the movement of the prey under the snow.
