While travelling the backroads in the aspen parkland region east of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; I came across an active beaver lodge in the center of a large wetland. There were several Canada Beaver (Castor canadensis) swimming in the pond and I was fortunate enough to have one crawl up on the aspen poplar dam blocking the water flow out of the pond.
