A photo of the Kelpies sculpture in Falkirk taken using my iPhone and processed to b&w using the Snapseed app.
This was taken using 2 options that are in the iPhone: ‘Live Photo’ combined with ‘Long Exposure’ which, in this particular photo, automatically removed moving people from the image.

This is the version of the Mealt Falls photo that I took with my big camera. I processed it in Photoshop to enhance the contrast and to exploit the wonderful dynamic range of the Nikon D800 RAW files.
For comparison purposes the photo below is one that I took with my iPhone 11 using it's long exposure mode & processed on the phone. The main difference between the 2 photos is the water. I needed to hold both cameras out over the cliff edge to take these photos so a long-exposure photo with the Nikon was impossible. Also, if you click on both photos so you can compare them at a larger size, you'll see that the tonality transitions are much better on the Nikon image - part of that is my clumsiness in processing the iPhone image on the small screen of my phone, but it's certainly true to say that the Nikon images handle post-processing much much better than the ones taken with the phone.

A quick snapshot from my iPhone, cropped using the great Snapseed app then uploaded to Flickr. All a lot easier than using the big camera but not really as satisfying for some reason I haven’t yet figured out. I’ll post the photo I took with the big camera next week when I get back from bonny Scotland.
