A4 on the S&C - Under a leaden sky sees the rare sight of an A4 on the Settle and Carlisle.
LNER A4 Pacific Class 4-6-2 No 60009 "Union of South Africa" gets to grip with the long drag at Selside with the UK Railtours "Steam on the Settle and Carlisle" charter from York to Carlisle on 27 April 2019. Glimpsed in between heavy showers she is seen in front of the iconic and distinctive backdrop of Pen-y-Ghent shortly before crossing over Batty Moss on Ribblehead Viaduct.
