WWT Slimbridge.

The moorhen is often seen on park lakes, ponds and rivers. It spends more of its time out of the water than its relative, the coot, and even climbs trees. Moorhens are omnivores, eating everything from snails and insects to small fish and berries.

Moorhens are one of the world's commonest birds and can be found right around the globe, going by different names such as 'Skitty coot', 'Marsh hen' and 'Common gallinule'.

My thanks to anyone who views, faves or comments on any of my photos. It is much appreciated.

Coombe Hill. Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust.

Also in the carpark at Coombe Hill there are several Moorhen chicks hanging about at the moment. Bit grown up now, but without the colouring of the adult birds. They will be almost black eventually and with a bright red beak which in turn has a yellow tip. Check out them feet!

My thanks to anyone who views, faves or comments on any of my photos. It is much appreciated.
