The Jubilee Locomotive Company Limited’s former Yates Duxbury & Sons Limited Peckett & Sons Limited ‘R2’ class 12” x 18” 0-4-0ST locomotive stands on the Through Siding line at Bury South on the East Lancashire Railway at the head of a freight train. Sunday 25th January 2009
Note, the locomotive built by Peckett & Sons Limited (works number 1370) at the Atlas Engine Works in Bristol in 1915 for the Coventry Ordnance Works Limited named either KITCHENER or LADY GODIVA. The works became the Coventry works of The English Electric Company Limited circa 1921 and the locomotive was moved to The English Electric Company Limited’s Stafford works. possibly after the Coventry works closed in 1926. It was purchased by Yates Duxbury & Sons Limited for use at Heap Bridge Paper Mills in Heywood named MAY via George Cohen in November 1932 . It was purchased for preservation by Dr Peter Beet in the 1970s, ownership passing to The Jubilee Locomotive Company Limited
