The Kent and East Sussex Railway’s former Great Western Railway Company diesel-mechanical railcar number 20 at Rolvenden railway station on the Kent and East Sussex Railway. 1967

Note, 20, consisting of Great Western Railway Company Diagram A.1 body on an A.E.C. underframe was assembled at the Great Western Railway Company’s Swindon works in 1940 as part of Lot Number 1635 for the Great Western Railway Company as number 20. It passed to British Railways upon nationalisation of the railways on the 1st January 1948, being renumbered W20W. It was withdrawn from Worcester Motive Power Depot in week ending 6th October 1962 and stored around Worcester. It was acquired by the Kent and East Sussex Railway in February 1966, being moved by rail to Robertsbridge in spring 1966

Great Western Railway Company Churchward C 2-6-2T ‘4500’ class locomotive number 4515

Note, 4515 was built at the Great Western Railway Company’s Stafford Road works (works number 790) in Wolverhampton in December 1907 as number 2176, being renumbered 4515 in December 1912. It was transferred to British Railways upon nationalisation of the railways on 1st January 1948 and was withdrawn from Whitland Motive Power Depot in April 1953

The Kinlet Hall Locomotive Company Limited’s former Great Western Railway Company Collett D 4-6-0 ‘Hall’ class locomotive number 4936 KINLET HALL stands in Matlock railway station yard awaiting restoration. Saturday 12th June 1982

Note, 4936 was built at the Great Western Railways Company’s Swindon works in June 1929 as number 4936 KINLET HALL and was transferred to British Railways upon nationalisation of the railways on 1st January 1948. It was withdrawn from Cardiff East Dock Motive Power Depot on 15th January 1964 and stored. It was sold for scrap to Woodham Brothers Limited on 24th March 1964, arriving at Woodham’s Barry yard in April 1964. It was purchased for preservation by a private consortium in 1979, being moved to the Peak Rail site at Matlock in May 1981 for restoration where ownership passed to the Kinlet Hall Locomotive Company Limited
