Thursday night’s projection of the Apollo 11 onto the Washington Monument. I had packed up the camera and started walking when I saw an open view to capture both the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. A completely new and awesome view of a very familiar area.

Six years ago today, on June 1, 2011, Space Shuttle Endeavour (OV-105) completed its final mission (STS-134) and landed safely at Kennedy Space Center.
This photo was taken at the California Science Center's Samuel Oschin Pavilion, Endeavour's home until the permanent exhibit opens in 2018 (looks like it will be awesome). Definitely need to get back there someday and visit it again.

One of the real highlights of the National Museum of the US Air Force (the museum at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base) is the Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber. It is certainly a unique plane that is great to see in person and up close. Wright Patterson is a must do for anyone with an interest in aviation.

On Spring Break, we had family time in Florida and spent two days at Kennedy Space Center (KSC). As a bonus, we saw the SpaceX Falcon 9 launch. KSC was great with the highlights being the Atlantis exhibit and the launch. This exhibit opened last summer (2013). The shuttle is pitched with the cargo bay open and the arm extended. As you can see in the photo, it's also possible to get really close to the spacecraft and see it from all angles. It's an excellent experience, including the intro movie and launch simulator.
This is a seven exposure bracketed photo. Believe it or not, KSC does not have a tripod rule. In a comment below, I describe the tips given to me by KSC staff for shooting away from the crowd.

The Apollo 14 command module is located at Kennedy Space Center's Apollo/Saturn V Center (bus tour destination). It's tucked away in a side room on the left side of the building. It's great to see it up close.
This is a bracketed 3 exposure handheld image (-1,0,+1). Full disclosure: I tonemapped the module to bring out the detail from the beating it took coming back through earth's atmosphere. It doesn't look that singed up in person but I liked the look to emphasize what the module endured on re-entry.
