Looking forward to the 4th of July! While I've shot the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks show before, this is the display I won't forgot. I was shooting the lineup with friends when a private fireworks display broke out. Just crazy good luck. Love that view!

Fireworks over Florence's historic Ponte Vecchio bridge (built in 1345 and spared in WWII) as part of the San Giovanni celebrations on June 24th.

Actual 2016 Washington DC fireworks (not the PBS version)! I liked this colorful set of launches on the National Mall behind the Lincoln Memorial. The low fireworks also worked well for a tight composition.

I was fortunate to get a few shots I like. The low cloud cover limited visibility of the Washington Monument and US Capitol and made for "challenging" photography conditions. Many fireworks were exploding above the cloud deck. There was also a very light drizzle during the fireworks themselves. The one interesting visual side effect is that the moisture in the air causes the foreground lights and some of the fireworks to "glow".

As part of the annual Spring Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC, fireworks are shot off from the Southwest Waterfront. Given the location, it makes it great backdrop for the Jefferson Memorial. I shot this using a Lee Neutral Density (ND) 1.2 filter (4 stops) to extend the exposure to 30 seconds.

I viewed the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks 2013 on the Hudson River this month for the first time. The New York display is pretty amazing since they shoot fireworks from multiple barges on the river. Instead of viewing the fireworks from New York City, we viewed them from the 14th street pier in Hoboken, New Jersey. With Manhattan in the background and a great view of all the fireworks barges in the river, it was great to view and take photos of.
