Bridget Agnew with her uncle Francie Ward at his farm in Magheracloone, Co Monaghan. Just turned 21 years of age, Bridget (my mom) had taken a two week holiday in Carrickmacross, where she was born and which was the ancestral homeland of her parents. She stayed on the farm of James Ward, one of her other uncles, in Barnadonagh from where she cycled most mornings to visit her cousins that lived in farms scattered across south Monaghan.
