I was hiking for Dall Sheep during the sheep rut in mid November when I spotted a young Eagle taking off from out of the trees above. Hiking up farther I began hearing ravens, and magpies squawking and carrying on above. I got closer to the commotion and thought I spotted something white on the ground across a small gully. I was about to make my way across and go investigate when I spotted this eagle sitting on a tree branch, its face covered in blood. What a sight! After the eagle took off, I continued on to investigate and discovered a Dall Sheep Ram had fallen off the cliffs above and met its end, braking his neck and back in the fall. Its death would mean life for many of the birds and other critters that would feed of its carcass.
