Week three. Turtles and fish in the 4000 square meter pond appear to be fine and there is more yellow in the bloom than there was. Cyanobacteria form an important part of the primary production regime in Thailand's rivers and lakes that support valuable fish populations. As in other countries, phosphate enhances growth in the summer months and can lead to imbalance and subsequently to reduced dissolved oxygen levels. Studies are being undertaken to monitor the situation as the climate warms and more dams are built on rivers.
