Paederinae: a subfamily of the Staphylinidae. This rove beetle is described as one of Thailand's most dangerous insects. Crushing it against the skin sets up an abscess that eats out a hole in the flesh and is difficult to heal. I have found one or two in the house. This one was in vegetation close to the front door.
From Wikipedia ... The Paederini are associated with a skin irritation called Paederus dermatitis, due to a potent vesicant in their haemolymph. This irritant, pederin, is highly toxic, more potent than cobra venom.
