We had this egg cutter in use since a few years. We rarely used the function to puncture the egg, but it was there.
When cleaning this tool last evening, it caught my eye that there was a black mark on the turning points.
After disassembling the tool, I understood what was the wrong construction part: When cleaning the tool, water would stay in the base of the puncturing tool, as there is no escape for the water until it evaporates. A good designer would have left open spaces at the bottom of this plate, so water could easily escape.

We will replace the egg cutter.
