So much fun watching their courtship behavior. Extremely difficult to be at the right place and right time. One moment of inattention and you miss the action! Not perfectly sharp but good enough for now.....

RKO_3115. The Courtship process. Great Crested Grebe project 2021 (#5).
This moment is called "Admiraalzeilen" in Dutch. They sometimes call it the “Cat pose”! Showing its breeding plumage as to impress the other Grebe and/or competitors. The other Grebe then dives and comes at the surface just in front of him.
This moment in the courtship process is usually followed by head-shaking while looking into each others eyes (not sure how to better subscribe this process).
Not the best image (sharpness could be better) but at least it shows part of the courtship ritual.
