Engine houses at Fortescue's Shaft, Wheal Grenville. Both built in 1892, the pumping engine house is in the foreground and the winding engine house at the rear. The pumping engine house stack was originally higher but was damaged by a lightning strike in 1897. It closed in 1920. Near Camborne, Cornwall

Nestling among the sand dunes above Daymer Bay, is this charming church. You have to walk across a golf course to get to it. The former Poet Laureate, Sir John Betjeman was particularly fond of it and he lies buried in the churchyard.

There were lots of these washed up on the beaches in Cornwall after the storm in October. Found in the Atlantic Ocean its tentacles can deliver a painful sting that can be fatal. They are not Jellyfish but a Siphonophore and unlike Jellyfish they live in colonies.
