Madrid, Spain. This is the first living statue I remember ever seeing. She was standing on the grounds outside the Prado Museum among many white marble statues so, I didn't even notice her at first. I don't know how these folks hold so still for so long. They generally move when you put money in their cups. Seems like a tough way to make a living, but I found it fascinating.

La Rambla Barcelona, Spain. La Rambla is the grand boulevard in Barcelona where vendors, sidewalk cafes, musicians and living statues all vie for the attention and money from all the tourists and locals who strut their stuff along the way. It is certainly one of the places to see and be seen in Barcelona and is packed with activity the better part of 24 hours per day.

Granada, Spain. The most amazing thing about this guy is that his dog remained so still for so long he/she appeared to be dead until money was deposited in the box.

Malaga, Spain. While walking the beach in the early evening, I spotted this pair transforming the man into a living statue. She was spraying him with water so that the sand she applied to his every feature would adhere. I was hot in shorts and a t-shirt. I can imagine how uncomfortable he must have been in all those clothes and covered with sand. UGH! What a tough way to make a few euros.
