Indiana.

I couldn't find a manufacturer anywhere on the truck, but WarrenS52 informed me that it is a '50's vintage Diamond T Model 830. Thanks Warren. Apparently it was a truck used by the Botkins, Ohio Fire Department. Somehow the cab had been dented in pretty severely and I doubt that it has run in quite some time although I was thrown by how white the word "Goodyear" is on the front tire. A week after I found this truck, by chance, I met a guy who had a large collection of trucks and told him about this one. He said he had sold the truck to the current owner some years ago. His memory was that it is a 1958 Model 621 and that the cab was dented by an I beam that fell on it during a snow storm that partially collapsed the roof of the building where it was stored. Luckily the beam missed several other Diamond T's in his collection. The gentleman is the VP of the local chapter of the American Truck Historical Society and seemed extremely knowledgeable.

43rd Reunion Ohio Valley Antique Machinery Show in Georgetown, Ohio. This pumper was special order built by Cincinnati's Ahrens-Fox for the Crescent Springs, Kentucky fire department which is right across the river from Cincinnati. It is the only one that Ahrens-Fox built on a GMC COE chassis. Crescent Springs needed a short truck to fit into their firehouse.

The current owners are a father and son from Amelia, Ohio who have a large collection of old fire trucks as well as several farm tractors.

I previously shot it at the 2010 National Fire Heritage Muster at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio.

2010 National Fire Heritage Muster held at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio. Apparently, the truck was once part of the Woodlawn Fire Department in the Cincinnati area.

Later I met the owner and visited his museum in Shandon, Ohio. The museum is called "The Salty Dog Museum" and contains an amazing collection of restored antique fire trucks and equipment as well as a sample of most any year Ford car from the Model T through 1940, a few old motorcycles and a ton of transportation related memorabilia. There is even a huge area set aside for working on fire trucks etc. Almost all of the vehicles are in drivable order. If memory serves, I think this is the newest truck he owns. He provides one of his oldest trucks for the annual Red's Opening Day Parade.

The owner is more than willing to give you a tour and will give you a ride if one of the trucks is out or at a show.

If you are ever in the area, it's a must see, but you should call ahead to be sure they will be open.

Taken on an old rusty hook and ladder fire truck at Casey's Outdoor Solutions in Bright, Indiana. Casey's father owns an old Seagrave fire truck that is parked next to Casey's business. It has been there for a long time and is pretty rusted out. What a shame it hasn't been restored.
