I thought the crane seen though the window looked like some sort of long necked monster - perhaps a praying mantis on steroids? Certainly the heavy machinery at the scrapyard wreck havoc on all the old cars, trucks and other collected material as they crush them and move them on to a reconstituted life.

Taken at the Garden St. Iron and Metal scrapyard in the Camp Washington neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Club Blatz (AKA Cincinnati's Misfits With Camera's) held "Junkyard Madness 6" today. The weather was unseasonably hot so after about a couple of hours in the sun, I was looking for a cooler place. I entered one of the buildings on the premises and went down a steep set of stairs to the lower level. Once my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I got a good look at this jewel hiding there all covered with the dust of inactivity. Luckily there was enough available light to get this shot using a long exposure. You just never can tell what you'll find hidden away in some of the most usual places.

As far as I can tell, it is a 1946 2 ton truck. I'd appreciate someone more knowledgeable letting me know what they think.

Cincinnati, Ohio. A local group of photographers gained access to a scrap yard where we found all kinds of interesting things to photograph. I found these engine blocks interesting, but then again, I've always be a bit of a motorhead.

Cincinnati, Ohio. My guess is that these are some very large hydraulic parts for the cranes in the yard. I'm sure they get considerable work every day and probably have to be removed for maintenance periodically.
