Oakley neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio. The mountains of gravel at this construction site make for a somewhat surreal backdrop to the heavy equipment working there.

Western Cincinnati Ohio. Schwab Welding Inc. is a rather small appearing operation that has been in the family for (I believe) three generations. The father and son, Dave were busy working the day the Snakedoctor and I visited. Although Dave is very nice and willing to let us photograph, we felt a bit too intrusive that day and so only took a few shots with the hope of returning some other time.

As is true for many small metal fabricating businesses, the shop is pretty crowded with material, projects, tools and machines. Otro_Mun2 tells me that the machine is an "Ironworker" (which is what I thought the plaque on the side says) It is used to sheer and cut holes in steel. Regardless, I love mechanical things and thought the color of this one made it a prime candidate for a shot or two. I thought I should post it while I'm in an industrial mood.

Eden Park in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Cincinnati Art Academy occupied the gutted building which is/was attached to the building at the right which is the Cincinnati Art Museum. The Museum is going to remodel and expand into the area that the Academy vacated. Unfortunately, not much of the structure could be saved. What is currently standing are just the walls of the old stone building. As you can see, they are currently supported by steel bracing. Obviously, this is a major project. While I believe it had to be cheaper to tear the structure down and start over, I'm glad they are preserving the facade of the old building. Blackhandgreaseysuzie said he wanted to see the crane. Unfortunately, this is about as good as I could do.
