Levering, Michigan. Levering is very close to Mackinaw City, the Gatlinburg, Tennessee of the North. While it really is a pretty nice place, there is a level of tackiness to it and a certain amount of Americana to be found, this Chicken being one example. Actually, I think it is fun and it is effective in catching your attention. It's the kind of kitschy place I found and enjoyed on my recent trip on Route 66. The smells coming from the cafe were inviting, but we had eaten recently and so passed up the food. Maybe next time.

Ann Arbor, Michigan. This is a really elegant old theater that has been wonderfully restored. It's nice to see that some folks have enough sense to preserve these fine old structures. I found it interesting that another well preserved theater, the State, is only about a block and a half away. Hopefully the University of Michigan students and others in the area appreciate and patronize them both.
