Taken at the Ohio Renaissance Festival in Harveysburg, Ohio. This gentleman, who is a welder in his real life, came down from Bristol, Wisconson (over 300 miles) with his wife just to attend the festival. He made his own costume out of leather and said it was quite heavy weighing around 100 pounds. Luckily it wasn't terribly hot that day or he would have suffered greatly. As it was, he chose this spot in the shade to wait for his wife who was shopping. This was my first Renaissance festival so I had lots of questions to ask him which he graciously answered. He said he tried to be as authentic as possible in his costume and was somewhat irritated when he saw people in great costumes except for their Nike shoes or some such thing not in keeping with the period. I pointed out that his many tattoos were his give away, but he still looked great. I'm glad I met him and got a chance to talk some as it helped me understand what was going on.

Taken at the Ohio Renaissance Festival in Harveysburg, Ohio. As you can see in this picture, some of the costumes were unbelievable and many of the participants made their own. We were there on a day that started out relatively cool, but it got hot enough that wearing so much would probably get very uncomfortable. I'm guessing that this young woman was part of the queen's court.
