This was the day that the moon rose with the right phase and at the right time to seek a shot similar to Ansel Adams' "Moon and Half Dome".
It turns out that it's not that simple! I needed to be there the day before, but on that day I headed up to Glacier Point for sunset. I have a better date to try again next Fall!
Update February 2015: I replaced the original small file with a larger one, produced using Adobe Lightroom 5 and Photomatix 5 (HDR), plus a conversion to black and white in onOne Perfect Effects 8.
