Class 76 Electric locomotive 76025 at Penistone on the LCGB Easter Tommy Railtour from Liverpool to Lincoln. The line as a through route had closed to regular passenger services in 1970. Closure to freight took place in 1981.

In those less H&S conscious days permission had been given for railtour participants to photograph the train from the barrow crossing which crossed the tracks at this point.

A look back to the time when FLYING SCOTSMAN was not the crowd generating media celebrity the locomotive is today. Seen here resting outside of the shed at Steamtown alongside what looks to be a small Andrew Barclay saddle tank. August 01, 1983
At the time Flying Scotsman was based at Carnforth.
Steamtown is now the operating base for West Coast Railways the much loved museum closing in 1998.

Class 105 Cravens DMU at Marks Tey after arrival from Sudbury. The guard has collected the tail lamp and is chatting to the driver through the cab.

Railway enthusiasts watch as 31116 and 31227 brings the empty stock of the return LCGB North West EASTER TOMMY Rail Tour into Lincoln Central on April 21, 1981.
The train had operated from Liverpool Lime Street to Lincoln Central via the Woodhead Route with class 76 haulage over Woodhead. It was the last passenger train to pass through Woodhead Tunnel before closure of the route in summer 1981.
