A very special OOAK Barbie, dedicated to my colleague and co-worker Evie.

The boots were one of the key elements of the whole 'project'. In the winter months, Evie would wear these fabulous tall tan boots with a white fur ruff. Sure enough, the Eskimo Barbie work very similar boots (though the're more accurately Eskimo mukluks.) Speaking of mukluks, you must listen to this classic skit, animated by psyguy of www.fireball20xl.com! (it's a personal fav for both Evie & me!)

Back to the photo, the truck just seemed to match her outfit, and goes with the Cat (albeit not a CASE) bulldozer, which is a tribute to her son. The running shoes and (handmade) moccasins add to the room decor.

I confess, I cannot take credit for the name Evie-manyshirts. It was brilliantly coined by a fellow co-worker of mine, CMV (I think). And the name could not be more appropriate. Evie often wears multi-layered shirts of various sleaves, length, and colours.
The doll here is wearing a maroon sleaveless top over a pink frilled puffed sleaves shirt, over a white spaghetti-strapped shirt. She could have worn one more longsleaves, full length T, but as Barbie typically wears short shirts, long shirts are hard to come by.
The blue parka is very similar to Evie's own winter coat, which also had the hood with a white fur ruff. This jacket is actually from the vintage 1963 Barbie Ski Queen, which I was able to order on ebay for around $5.

A very special OOAK Barbie, dedicated to my colleague and co-worker Evie.
This little project all started when I received an unsold NOS "Surf City Kira" from my aunt. She thought I could sell it on ebay... I quickly found out the doll was launched in 2000, and sold new for $4.99, and currently sells for about $10 on the collectors market. It didn't seem worth the hassle of selling, but I was compelled by her features. She has quite distinctive look.
She's actually Asian, possibly Filipino, or she could even be Hawaiian. I first thought she looked like a Filipino friend of mine, but my sister disagreed. Upon further consideration, I realized she bore striking resemblance to Evie at work, who happens to be Metis! And so, the idea was born - I simply had to make this into a OOAK doll for Evie...

I appropriated the myscene Adidas Barbie packaging, and the only thing I used was the pair of sunglasses!
One of my last mods to the packaging - I covered the blue & white Adidas logo at bottom right with a little birthday greeting, using a Larabiefont.
Typographically, it could have used a bit more refinement here, but regardless I do like how it perfectly matches the blue and white in the jacket...
Evie's winter outfit
Make no mistake, this is a winter outfit, photographed at the height of summer. But it sill looks like there could be some snow in the background...maybe this is high atop the rockies somewhere...
I kept thinking the doll needed some beige khaki pants instead of these brown suede pants, but in situ, they suite perfectly fine.
