Stabelhøj ia a buriel mound. The mound dates from the early Bronze Age 1800 - 1000 years b.c.

In the early Bronze Age, chiefs and other important people were buried in burial mounds in a hollowed-out oak trunk. The mounds were often used in several rounds, so that there can be both early coffin burials and later urn burials in the same mound.

Building large Bronze Age mounds such as the stacked mounds is a work done by many people using primitive pre-Iron Age tools. An effort that resulted in the creation of 60,000 giant mounds, in Denmark.

It is estimated that in older bronzeage 1800 - 500 years before the birth of Christ, 100 - 150 burial mounds have been built annually.
