The Ely pilot, class 08 shunter no. 08594 waits at Ely, looking very clean and shiny. Note the red buffer beam and solebar stripe, the white cab roof and the nameplate, with the unofficial name "Ely". This seems to have been a much-photographed loco, as a web search reveals. It's sitting at Doncaster now, looking very sorry for itself. A far cry from 1985, when someone obviously cared for it.
