Tundra Swans fly in tight formation at the Camas National Wildlife Refuge in Hamer, Idaho. Thanks to James Harris for correcting me on this...These are not Trumpeter but Tundra Swans.

I thought some bird shots would let me try out the 3D auto focus tracking of the D300. Definitely a great feature for moving targets!

A lone Bison grazes along the banks of the Madison River in Yellowstone National Park as the warm morning light is reflected in the river and pools in the grass.

Christopher Ballmer, the man in charge of wildlife on our recent workshop set this shot up for the whole group. He spotted the beautiful reflections in the pools along the banks and predicted that the grazing bison, still about 50 yards downstream, would move into the composition if we but patiently waited. Thanks, Chris!
