At 7:57 AM, local time, on 14 January 2024, a fissure eruption started in southwestern Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula. It was preceded by hundreds of minor earthquakes, which started at about 3:00 AM (= cluster at far-right on the graph). The strongest quake was magnitude 3.5.
